The second RDS qualifier for this year’s Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 year-old international competition at the Dublin Horse Show, took place at Coilog Equestrian Centre on Wednesday, with Co Longford’s Robert Harrison taking the winners prize with Landlystes Rubina.
The seven-year-old mare by Heartbeat who is out of a Quantum dam, posted the fastest double clear round in 41.50 seconds –  just fractionally ahead of Clem McMahon with the TJM Equestrian owned Catani Z, who finished just three hundrenths of a second behind to take runner up spot.
Waterford’s Francis Connors finished third with the Ian Smyth owned Capitol Cruis, while another Waterford rider Tholm Keane finished fourth with Ronan Tynan’s Rocksy Music.
Alexander Butler grabbed the last RDS qualifying place on offer with Dekato, with Eddie Moloney and MHS La Scala finishing in sixth.
Riders now have just two more opportunities to book a place at the RDS, with  Barnadown (Wexford) and the Meadows (Armagh), hosting the remaining qualifiers, as they bid to follow in the footsteps of 2014 Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 year-old champions Cian O’Connor and Aramis 573.
The top 20 qualifiers from the four Irish venues, will joined at the Dublin Horse Show by up to twenty-four additional International entries from around the world, for the 2015 Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 year-old international final at the RDS in Ballsbridge, where along with a very lucrative prize-fund, the overall winner will receive a tonne of Horse Care 10, Connolly’s RED MILLS market leading horse feed product.
