Red letter day for Irish Show Jumping as the Gain Horse feeds Junior (U18) and Young Rider (U21) team win Silver and Bronze medals at European Championships.

Ireland Junior and Young rider teams today (Friday) took silver and bronze medals at their European Championships in Austria.

The Junior team of Philip Carey (from Kilkenny), Susan Fitzpatrick (from Kilkenny), Anna Carway (from Kilkenny) and Cormac Hanley (from Mayo) took the Team Silver medal following a jump off with Great Britain who had make do with Bronze. The Gold medal went to Germany. Twenty one nations took part.

Earlier the Young Rider team took the Bronze medal following a three way jump off for the Silver medal with Germany and Great Britain. Germany took the Silver with Ireland taking Bronze and Belgium the Gold. Fourteen nations competed for medals.

The Young Rider’s team consisted of Eoin Mc Mahon, Michael G. Duffy, Michael Duffy and Jonathon Gordon.

The Chef d’Equipe for both team was Comdt John Ledingham. The Children, Junior and Young Rider HSI High Performance committee consists of Comdt. Ledingham, James Kernan (chair), Michael Blake and Sally Ann Tobin. The team vet was Will Lawlor.

The new medals come after a massive week for Irish show jumping which saw the Investec Senior Show Jumping team win the Aga Khan Trophy in Dublin and the Gain pony team win team Silver at the European Championships in Malmo, Sweden.
