Leinster riders take three top places in the Gain Alltech National Grand Prix
Leinster riders were in the ribbons this weekend, with two riders finishing in the top six in the Gain Alltech National Grand Prix in Galway EC on Sunday (2nd May).
There was another good following for this round, with 47 combinations taking on the Tom Holden designed course. From the original starters, just five booked their place in the jump-off and just two delivered double clears.
Best of the two riders was Wexford’s Michelle Kenny, who was riding Indoctaire. Kenny was just fractions behind the winner Tim MacDonagh and Hollypark Galloway, when she delivered the only other double clear in 41.48 seconds. Owned by eventer Daisy Duggan, this ten-year-old stallion is by Indoctro and out of Venus.
Wicklow’s Brendan Murphy had an unlucky four faults with Over Lux in 41.48, but the he finished as the fastest of the four faulters for third place. Owned by Sandra Duffy, the nine-year-old gelding is by Lux and out of the Crusing sired dam, Thornfeild Camille
One place behind was Kildare’s Mikey Pender, who occupied fifth place with HHS Vancover. Bred and owned by Marion Hughes, HHS Vancouver (ISH) is by Indoctro out of the Don Juan De La Bouverie-sired La Juanita.

Leinster riders also featured in the ISH Stud Book classes with Vincent Byrne taking the runner-up place with HW True Blue. Owned by Hilda Whelan and bred by Hilda Wall, the gelding is by Plot Blue and out of the Warrenstown You 2 sired mare, Warrenstown Lass. Kilkenny’s Susan Fitzpatrick slotted into fourth place, when she delivered a clear in 38.53 with her mother Sharon’s CBI Victory. Bred by Eamonn Carroll the gelding is by Vittoria and out of the Diamant De Semilly sired dam Cenith M.
