11 May Leinster Riders claim four of the top slots in the GAIN Alltech Grand Prix in Barnadown.
Athlone’s Francis Derwin put another win on the GAIN Alltech Grand Prix leader board as he led the victory lap in the round at Barnadown today (7th May). Riding AHG Whiterock Cruise Down he was one of only four double clears in the Cooley Farm sponsored class. The combination made it look easy as they delivered the fastest of the clears in a time of 36.94 seconds. This is the second consecutive victory for Derwin, having claimed the honours Galway last Monday aboard Killerisk Can Ya. Derwin had already put points on the board with AHG Whiterock Cruise Down, having claimed sixth place in the round at Portmore.Owned by Francis Derwin, AHG Whiterock Cruise Down is a 13-year-old gelding is by Cruisings Micky Finn out of the Touch down sired dam, Whiterock Touch.There was a massive turnout for this round, with 88 combinations taking on the John Doyle designed course. Of those, 17 maintained a clean sheet first time out and a further four finished on a single time fault.
Kildare rider, Mikey Pender was just over three seconds slower with HHS Fortune, clocking 40.05 for second place. Owned by Marion Hughes the 11-year-old mare is by Catoki and is out of HHS Daisy.
Carlow young rider, Jason Foley took no chances with D’Amour du Nenuphar and he kept all the poles in place in a time of 40.23 for third place. This nine-year-old mare which is owned by Ronan Rothwell is by Vagabond de la Pomme.
Kildare’s Edward Doyle also put in a very fast round with Lisa Cawley’s Flexability, but with one on the ground in a time of 43.23 he had to settle for fifth place. Bred byNoel Cawley and owned by Lisa Cawley Flexability is a 11-year-old gelding by Flexible and out of Diamond Ballerina.
