Action in the Mervue Equine Leinster tour continued in CoilÓg National Grand Prix Show last weekend (16 & 17th June). On Sunday, 41 combinations battled it out in the 1.35m division and with riders on form, 11 booked their place against the clock. Taking victory on this occasion was Harry Wood aboard the seven-year-old Pembrook Corbetts Lane, when they delivered a clear in a time of 40.58. Bred by kilmashogue Stud and owned by GBBS INt Ltd, the gelding is by Kannan and out of the Guidam sired dam, MHS Pembrook Lady.Ethen Aherne came closest to catching the winner aboard Dermot Walsh’s LVS Goldrush, when delivering a clear in 41.72.2/ LT Ruari Clarke opted for the safer lines with Bohmahon Beach, and answered all the questions in a time of 43.68 for third place. A clear from Jim Donohoe and Culdearg Clover Lad in a time of 44.66 saw them take fourth place.Just over a second behind (45.77 and slotting into fifth place was Sarah Connell and Gliding Light.Completing the top six was Grace McHugh and Berlios Van De Kapel, clear in 46.66.
On Saturday there was a good following for the 1.10m Mervue Equine Leinster Tour with 85 combinations contesting this round. Junior rider Jamie Hargaden took the honours with the seven-year-old Maggie Mae, when they delivered a double clear in a time of 31.77 in the two-phase class. Young rider Hallie Crowe took the runner-up spot when she partnered Niamh Power’s CSF Alfie to a clear in 31.79.Junior rider Caoimhe Spacey was less than a second behind with the six-year-old, Ringwood Patience in a time of 32.14 for third place.Hallie Crowe took another place in the line-up, this time delivering a clear with the six-year-old Nikita, when clear in 33.15.Young rider Ciara Fives also kept the poles in place with the six-year-old Nairobi, stopping the clock in a time of 33.21 for fifth place.A clear from Michael Moran and Carrigshawn Doctro in 34.14 saw him complete the top six line-up.
In the 1.20m Mervue Equine Leinster League, 65 went to post and for the second time, it was Jamie Hargaden that emerged as the winner. This time riding Geron RS, he took the win, when clear in 30.99 seconds. Junior rider Cian Byrne and the seven-year-old Lunasa Cruise took the more cautious route and delivered a clear in 33.06 for second place. Hallie Crowe also found herself back in the ribbons with CSF Alfie, claiming third place, when clear in 33.38 seconds. Junior rider Anna White and SBH Diamond In the Rough followed closely behind when clear in 33.39 for eventual fourth place. A clear from Tom Keville and the eight-year-old Jupiter in 33.78 saw him take fifth place. It was a good outing for Halle Crowe as she took sixth place with Riverstown Flamenco Cruise when she maintained a clean sheet in a time of 33.81.
