Leinster pony, young riders and children on horses were out in force this weekend at Barnadown to contest the RDS qualifiers, and similar to the first round the proved to be a force to be reckoned with.In the 128cm qualifier Kilkenny’s Robbie Sheehan and He’s A Touch of Magic took the win when clear in 38.12. Munster riders filled the next five slots. Victory in the 138cm decider went to Leinster rider Claudia Carroll when clear in 71 seconds. Fellow Leinster rider Emily O’Brien took the runner-up when she came home clear in 71.24 aboard Youghal Paddy. Leinster rider Jack Kent and Latoons Full Back, clear in a time of 74.83 saw him take fifth place. The 148cm division attracted a large entry with 66 combinations going to post. Leinster’s Annie Boland and Jimtown kept the poles in their cups in a time of 42.29 for second place Both Leinster riders Lauren Murphy (Corbeagh Legand) and Emily Moloney (Castlehill Titan) clocked 42.54 to share fourth place. The 148cm 6/7 years old class saw 61 combinations battle it out for their place. Emily Moloney was back in the ribbons, this time taking third place with Lady Crown (6yo), clear in 38.69. Completing the top six line-up was Leinster rider, Evie Welton and Cavanagh Rocky in a time of 35.28cm.In the 138m 6/7 year- Jack Kent and Grantstown All Action (7yo) took third place.

In the young riders and children on horses on Sunday, Leinster riders also put in a great performance. In the 1.15m Children on Horses qualifier, just 20 combinations went to post and of those four triple clears were delivered in six-way jump-off. Claiming the runner-up spot was Kilkenny’s Isobel Sheehan abaord Ahare Olympic Flemmencio, when crossed the line in a time of 35.70. In the 1.10/1.15m Young rider qualifier Kildare rider Joshua Halford, delivered a double clear in a time of 35.50 with the seven-year-old Hes a Steel for third place. The 1.25/1.30m, Annie Boland took the runner-up spot with The Hurricane, when she was less than a second behind in 35.98. Wexford’s Taylor Peare and Lissyegan Geoffrey came home with a clean sheet in a time of 36.64 for eventual fourth, ahead of Mullingar’s Alanna Fagan, who partnered Bella M to a clear in 38.10. In the 1.35/1.40m qualifier was Aisling McGuinness and Kilderrys Joint Venture took third place when clear in 37.45. A clear from Emily Moloney and Temple Alice in a time of 37.80 ensured her fifth place, ahead of Eoin Brennan and Ninparo, clear in 38.70
