Leinster Training Report 2015
It was another busy year for training in the Leinster Region. The Leinster provides regular training throughout the region which includes the delivery of the Mackey Five Bar program. Training was open to all members who wished to participate. I wish to thank all the venues in the region for their continued support of the training program, also the H.S.I. coaches who have committed to support the Regions training program.
The introduction of a National Development Squads offered forty successful members (20 pony and 20 horse riders) selected from the assessment day held in November 2014, the opportunity to partake in a monthly training session, with level two or three coaches H.S.I. coaches. During the year the squad members also attended a lecture with phycologist Jim Hickey and an evening instruction in course walking with Ian Fearon at Mullingar during the Pony and Young Rider Championships. Their year as members of the Development Squad was completed by attending a national training and instruction day at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Saturday the 21st November. This day also afforded the Leinster members the opportunity to meet their counterparts from the other regions. Comfort Gut kindly sponsored a jacket for each of the members of the Development Squad.
