26 May Win for Dermot Lennon at Ravensdale on his return from International Duty

Lennon Swoops in on Vampire to triumph at Ravensdale Lodge

Dermot Lennon returned to the winner’s enclosure at Ravensdale Lodge when taking the victory in the fourth leg of the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League with Vampire. The victor in the 2013 Autumn League Grand Prix at the venue, Lennon repeated this feat in Sunday’s €4,000 class sponsored by the venue, once again partnered with the 13-year-old son of Andiamo.

The final rider in a nine horse decider, Lennon took a decisive victory coming home with over a second in hand when the clock showed 35.61 seconds.

The former World Champion has been on form, last week winning the prestigious Kingdom of Bahrain Trophy when triumphant with Loughview Lou Lou in the Alltech Grand Prix at the three-star Royal Windsor Show.

Lennon commented, “I’m really pleased with Vampire, he jumped super, I’m delighted with the result.” Lennon was home for a flying visit now heading to Shanghai for the two-star invitational show next weekend.

Lennon relegated Deane Rogan to the runner-up position on the day. Rogan had held the lead from the midway point of the class when logging a time of 36.84 with the Toulon-sired Falco Van Spievald. Another rider that has shown good form of late, Rogan featured last week with a win in the two-star show in Balmoral.

Sven Hadley put his first points on the board with Quanbelle taking the yellow rosette. The penultimate rider in the jump-off, Hadley stopped the clock at 37.42.

Only fractions separated the next two riders in the line-up. Daniel Coyle, last week’s winner aboard Zuidam, proved quickest of the two this time riding Uptown Girl. Coyle was fault free in 38.39 while John Floody and the eight-year-old Mise Le Meas came home in 38.66.

Captain Michael Kelly rounded out the placings in sixth with another eight-year-old, the Diamant de Semilly-sired stallion Duganstown Boy, clear in a time of 39.01.
