Win for Eddie Moloney on home ground at Iverk Show

Kilkenny’s Eddie Moloney ensured a local rider took the winners prize, in the 2,000 euro Connolly’s RED MILLS sponsored ninth round of the Leinster Summer Tour (LST) at a packed Iverk Show in Piltown.

A very large group of 24 horses and riders made it through to the second round jump-off, with Eddie Moloney riding his own ten year-old mare Pashmina K, the only combination to break the 38 second barrier, finishing clear in 37.20 seconds to take the winners prize.

Pashmina K is by the sire Harlequin Du Carel out of a Master Imp dam and had finished as runner up with Moloney in his home round of the LST at Warrington Equestrian Centre in July.

Waterford’s Francis Connors with the John Douglas owned eleven year old mare Cavalier Royale Clover finished in second place, one of nine double clears in the competition, they crossed the line in 38.42 just ahead of Co Laois based Vickie Anderson who grabbed third spot with the Olive Anderson owned ten year old gelding Zack (39.84).

Francis Connors also filled fourth place with the Una Flynn owned Argento Cruise who is just a seven year old by Nick Skelton’s former mount Arko III out of the dam Cruiseway, who is also the dam of another of Francis Connors current string of horses, Hyperion.

Eddie Moloney grabbed another share of the prize fund when taking fifth spot with the David Cross owned Intro-Link Larry, while Canadian visitor Nicole Walker finished sixth with Cooper 81.

Walker is being currently being trained by Ireland’s Cian O Connor who is sponsoring the “Karlswood Stables Bursary” where the leading Young Rider in the L.S.T will receive a week’s training including accommodation for both horse and rider, with Olympic Bronze medallist Cian O’Connor at his Karlswood base in Co Meath.

The penultimate round of the Leinster Summer Tour takes place at Coilog Equestrian on Sunday 31st August, before the final round of the series during the Irish Breeders Classic at Barnadown in September.
