Flavours of Fingal County Show played host to The Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour last Sunday with Roganstown Hotel and Country Club sponsoring this round of the popular tour. In the 1.35m a total of 27 combinations battled it out for the €2,000 prize fund. Claiming this round was Harry Wood on the seven-year-old BP Rocket Man when they lodged the fastest of the eight double clears in a time of 40.95. Owned by Richard Kirby the gelding was bred by GBBS International Ldt and is by Stakkato Gold and out of the Quidam Junior sired dam, BP Quidy.

Not content with the win, Harry Wood returned to take third place with the seven-year-old Pembrook Corbetts Lane, when he put in another clear in 42.24. Wood completed the hat trick when he took sixth place with the Keith Ennis owned Olympic GL FVD, clear in 51.59.

Comdt. Geoff Curran and Derry Cush were just over a second behind in 42 seconds to take the runner-up spot. LT Michaeli Byrne and MSH Claregalway was just over a second behind, clocking 43.26 for eventual fourth, while in fifth was Edward Doyle Jnr aboard Edward Widger’s seven-year-old, OKE Lulu Star. 

1.20m

Claiming victory in the 1.20m was Orla Cassidy and Bridgemans Olympic Star, when they were fastest of 12 double clears in a time of 36.32. The runner-up place was claimed by Stephen Wentzel and Castor, when they came home in a time of 39.35. Slotting into third place was Oisin Magee and Ship Shape, in a time of 39.94. Sean Foley’s clear round aboard the five-year-old Offshore VD Watermolen in a time of 42.34 saw them take fourth place. Harry Wood was back in the ribbons, this time taking fifth with the seven-year-old Emilio Vant Merelsnest Z, clear in 42.75. Six place belonged to Angela Waras and the six-year-old, Kinmar, clear in 42.88.

1.10m

Sean Foley emerged as the winner of the 1.10m decider when he partnered Dermott Lennon’s seven-year-old Beach Pleasure to a double clear in 38.40. Junior rider Nicha Phothong took the longer lines with Toulon De L’OZ and it paid off as they came home clear in 40.34 for second. Phothong also accounted for fourth place with the Ronnoco Jump owned K.I. Citelio De Blondel, when they answered all the questions in a time of 41.79. Slotting into third place was 2/LT Raphael Lee when she delivered a clear with the six-year-old Glenaboy River in a time of 41.39. A clear in 42.13 saw Declan McEvoy and Léim an Bhradáin take fifth place, ahead of Orla Cassidy and Ballyshan Hero, clear in 42.21.
